Sohn Hearts & Minds

Each year the Hearts & Minds curatorial team, working under the creative direction of Delorean, strive to create a revelatory and memorable experience. The event includes lightning stock pitches, panels of industry titans, international keynotes, medical research scientists, entertainers, as well as surprise guests and unexpected moments!

Sohn Hearts & Minds was co-founded in 2016 by industry leaders Guy Fowler, Matthew Grounds AM and Dr Gary Weiss AM, who sought to raise funds for Australian medical research, while providing a valuable and unique experience for their investment industry colleagues.

The inaugural conference in 2016 was held at the iconic Sydney Opera House, returning in 2017 and 2019 (with thanks to the support of the Sydney Theatre Company). In 2018 the conference was held at Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre, Melbourne.

‍Since 2016, the Hearts & Minds Group has succeeded in raising over $30m+ for its charitable beneficiaries. This extraordinary achievement has been made possible by the commitment of major corporate and investment industry supporters, ticket sales, media partners and event partners.

To create a sustainable funding model and expand on the philanthropic mission, in 2018 Hearts and Minds Investments Limited (ASX: HM1) was formed. Listed on the ASX, HM1 is a concentrated portfolio which includes stocks presented on stage at the annual Sohn Hearts & Minds Conference. All fund managers generously waive their fees allowing HM1 to donate 1.5% of net tangible assets per annum to selected medical research institutes. To learn more visit the HM1 website here.

Auscap is a proud supporter of Sohn Hearts & Minds and has presented at the Sohn Hearts & Minds Investment Leaders Conference over the past few years, including the most recent in November 2022.

Balmoral Nippers

2024 Season has ended!

Auscap was proud to once again be the major sponsor of the Balmoral Nippers and the Balmoral Bronzies programs for the 2023-2024 Summer season (Nov 23-Mar 24)

Over 850 children and their families are involved in the programs which runs throughout the summer months at Balmoral beach in Sydney. Auscap was delighted to be able to support these community initiatives. The programs are largely run by volunteers and are focused on giving children and young people the opportunity to develop new skills, be active, meet new people and have fun. Australian Philanthropic Services

Australian Philanthropic Services (APS) is the leading independent, not-for-profit philanthropic services organisation in Australia. Their 700+ clients donated $140 million to charity last year and have committed over $2 billion to charity held in structures that APS support.

APS offer fulfilling ways for people to manage their charitable giving over time using tax-efficient structures called ancillary funds. With APS, people can establish their own private ancillary fund (PAF) or a named giving fund (also known as a sub-fund) in APS’s public ancillary fund, the APS Foundation.

APS make structured giving simple, so people can focus on supporting the causes that matter to them.

Auscap has been a proud supporter of APS since 2014.

Noosa Chances

Noosa Chances is a not-for-profit run by volunteer professionals in the Noosa Shire area. They rely on donations from trusts, foundations, corporations, and individuals to provide these life-changing scholarships to young people in the Noosa Shire. This year (2022) the charity expanded beyond Noosa Shire and became a national charity called Altitude Scholarships.

The charity gives young people the chance to fulfill their potential and overcome financial barriers to success. They do this by providing scholarships through selected schools and offering ongoing support.

Auscap was proud to fund three scholarships this year to support three talented and motivated students who may otherwise miss out on the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams.

Lauren Murphy, Head of Distribution at Auscap, is the main driver of this sponsorship and was honoured to represent Auscap at Noosa Chance’s Annual Gala Dinner.
